Why Choose Young Living?
The majority of essential oils on the market today are only suitable for cosmetics and perfumes, or fragrance as we currently know it. Young Living set out 25 years ago to develop pure, therapeutic grade oils meant to have real health benefits. They have a strict, detailed method for producing oils to obtain the purest, most potent plant essences. Young Living refers to this process as their Seed to Seal promise. For Young Living, this isn’t just a slogan, it is a promise made to families setting the standard for authenticity and purity.
Seed to Seal
Standards far beyond the standard.

Sourcing
Because synthetics, contaminants, cheap fillers, and unethical production practices are not an option for the products in your home, Young Living Executive Vice President of Operations Lauren Walker guides the process of sourcing products from carefully vetted suppliers and testing them extensively. If our exhaustive tests show that a product doesn’t meet our standards, we don’t buy it or we reject the batch.
Science
We insist on essential oils, products, and ingredients that have passed our stringent, unyielding quality benchmarks. Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Buch leads our D. Gary Young Research Institute and Quality teams, working in state-of-the-art labs with some of the most advanced scientific equipment available. With industry leading research, innovative product development and third party testing, Young Living can confidently bring the best products to market.
Standard
As the leaders of the modern essential oils movement and a close partner with the earth, it’s part of our stewardship to do business responsibly—from sustainably sourcing rare botanicals, to uplifting local communities, to going above and beyond to comply with local environmental rules. The goal? Offering a pure product that you know is part of a greater good.
Every product Young Living creates is backed by the three pillars of our quality commitment – Sourcing, Science, and Standards. Our Seed to Seal Promise has made Young Living an industry leader in creating the world’s best essential oils and oil-infused products.

The concerns with other oils
Unfortunately there are no current standards when it comes to labeling a bottle of essential oil. A bottle can say “100% Natural”, “100% Pure”, “All Natural”, or even “Therapeutic” but these terms and promises are not regulated. For a company to label their product in this way, it technically only has to contain 5% pure essential oil in the bottle. Scary, right?
The majority of essential oils on the market, especially found at your local superstore, are extracted using high heat, high pressure, and even chemicals (the very things we are looking to avoid). Although the final product may still contain the aroma of the plant, these harsh processing methods destroy the therapeutic value of the oils. You may even notice that some bottles are labeled “for aromatic use only” or “avoid contact with skin”. These terms are red flags that the oil contained in the bottle has not been produced in a manner consistent with pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils that contain only the steam distilled extract from the plant itself also do not expire. When you see an expiration date on an oil, that is also a red flag that you aren’t holding pure, therapeutic grade essential oil.
There are best practices for caring for your oils. Storing them appropriately will help you protect your wellness investment and maximize their benefits.
With the lack of regulation, it is extremely important to know and trust where your oils are coming from and how they were produced. Because of Young Living’s quality standards and open door policy, we’ve chosen this brand of essentials oils to use with our families.
